BOWLANDER 2008

Teams of 4/7 members are invited to enter this year’s event, which will test
your hiking and map reading skills to a high standard. This is not a race, but
an all-round assessment of skills and stamina on a pre-determined route.
Participants must be between 10˝ and under 14 years of age on 4 April 2008
with a minimum standard of Outdoor Challenge/Scout Award. Entry forms will be
circulated through your ADC Scouts in the near future, but now is the time to
decide if you have the necessary competence to take part in this premier hiking
event! If you think you are good enough, start training now, as April will soon
be here.
Navigation was generally poor last year, but we didn’t lose anyone - can you
rise to the challenge and produce the winning team in 2008? For all teams
taking part, the Bowlander will enable you to gain the Expedition Challenge, and
will go a long way towards the Hiker and Hill Walker Awards. It will also cover
the Scoutcraft and Adventure Programme Zone, and could include Fit for Life Zone
with some planning! You can certainly be proud of taking part, and you might
just enjoy it as well!
